Sinopsis:
El director y músico, Emir Kusturica, nos presenta La vida es un milagro, su mas reciente producción con financiación francesa. La película, que se presentó en la pasada edición del Festival de Valladolid, gira en torno a Luka, un ingeniero serbio de Belgrado, que se ha instalado en un pueblo en medio de ninguna parte con su mujer cantante de ópera, Jadranka, y el hijo de ambos, Milos. Luka está preparando la construcción del ferrocarril que va a transformar la región en un paraíso turístico. Completamente absorto en su trabajo y cegado por su optimismo natural, está sordo al cada vez más persistente rumor de la guerra. Cuando el conflicto estalla, la vida de Luka se ve alterada: su mujer, Jadranka, desaparece del brazo de un músico mientras que su hijo, Milos, es llamado al frente. Siempre optimista, Luka aguarda el regreso de su familia, pero Jadranka no vuelve. Milos es hecho prisionero y el ejército serbio nombra a Luka guardián de Sabaha, una joven musulmana que ha sido tomada como rehén. Al poco tiempo, Luka se ha enamorado de Sabaha, pero la joven está destinada a ser intercambiada por un prisionero serbio: su hijo Milos.
