Sinopsis:
La historia de este filme transcurre en París, donde hace varios meses que una banda de atracadores funciona con total impunidad, haciendo gala de una violencia poco habitual. El director de la Policía Judicial, Robert Manzini, no puede ser más claro con dos de sus comisarios, Léo Vrinks, jefe de la BRI (Brigada de Investigación e Intervención), y Denis Klein, jefe de la BRB (Brigada de Represión de la Delincuencia): el que consiga atrapar a la banda le sustituirá y se convertirá en el gran jefe del 36, Quai des Orfèvres, sede de la Policía Judicial. La guerra queda declarada entre los dos policías, antaño amigos, pero a los que ahora separan sus vidas, sus métodos, sus equipos y una mujer, Camille Vrinks.
